If you are looking to lose weight, we highly recommend to have a proper support system in order to achieve the greatest results and long term permanent success. From the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology in an article titled "Benefits of recruiting participants with friends and increasing social support for weight loss and maintenance", their research proves the benefits of having a weight loss partner.
In this research study those who had a weight loss partner, 95% completed the weight loss program and 65% maintained their weight loss in full, while compared to those who did not have weight loss partner, 76% competed the weight loss program and ONLY 24% maintained their weight loss in full. So, basically with a weight loss partner you are almost guaranteed to reach your weight loss goals and more than 2 times likely to keep that weight off. Social support adds accountability. A spouse, significant other, friend, family member or co-worker (or all of the above) can be your weight loss partner(s).
Remember to review your progress together at least weekly, but do NOT get in a habit of weighing yourself everyday as your body will fluctuate, so just weigh yourself weekly too when meeting.
